The Wannabe VC: Now Hosted by midPhase
Some of you may not even realize that I moved hosts yesterday since the site didn’t go down for even a second. That was due to the crew at midPhase in Chicago who took care of everything. Not only do they have great support and migration help, they also have great hosting packages for blogs all the way up to businesses.
The guys at midPhase also care about the tech community. They came in and sponsored TECH cocktail when it was nothing and now they continue to help with sponsorship and friendship (and limos!). I also heard that they volunteered to host the SaveTheInternet.com site for free in order to help the net neutrality cause. Long story short - the guys at midPhase are great guys and they are great at what they do. Check them out if you have the chance. I highly recommend them.
I had a horrible experience with Midphase a few years ago. I had to fight with them to honor their refund promise and a year after cancelling my service, I saw a charge on my credit card that was obviously not supposed to happen. They actually defended the charge because I contested it with the credit card company.
On a related note, you should read this post (if you haven’t already) by the Dreamhost guys about the shady dealings of the web hosting industry. Notably, if you go to the website in question, hosting-review.com, you’ll see Midphase mentioned there.

Hey Raj,
So sorry to hear you had a bad experience with midPhase. I have known the guys for a little while now and I have never seen anything to make me think they were any less than stand-up individuals. I have also heard good things about them from other customers.
I definitely know about the supposedly non-biased hosting review sites which are, in fact, very biased. It’s all based on the referral payout and not on the quality of the hosting.
Again, I am sorry to hear you had a bad experience with midPhase. Seems like you must have dealt with them in the very beginning of their history. I am sure a lot has changed since then and they would be eager to make things up to you.
