Looking Back: One Year at FeedBurner

Reading time: 2 – 2 minutes

FeedBurnerI should have written this a couple days ago (November 28th to be exact) but I was busy burning feeds and the like so I had to put it off for a couple days. I just wanted to take a paragraph or two and look back the last year at FeedBurner so I hope you’ll all indulge me.

Just one year ago I made my journey west to follow my start-up dreams by joining FeedBurner and what a trip it has been so far. We’ve gone from about 50,000 publishers to just about 290,000 today (that pretty incredible growth). We’ve introduced ground breaking features like FeedFlare and our tie in with SpringWidgets. We’ve built an ad server from scratch and developed a whole ad network based around feeds (and sites as well) simply called FAN (short for the FeedBurner Ad Network).

What we have been able to accomplish in just a year is truly remarkable. I love heading into the office everyday because we’re always doing something innovative and interesting and our publishers are a lot of fun to work with. I am also privileged to work with the best of the best. The FeedBurner team is a special one and one we keep adding great person after great person to (speaking of – we’re looking for a handful of java developers – if you’re interested please shoot a resume to jobs [at] feedburner.com). Thank you to all my colleagues at FeedBurner and all the publishers I have worked with for making the last year such a memorable one. Here’s to 2007! A little early I know but so what?

  1. And someday, we’ll finally talk you down to one gear on that daily commuter ride of yours — the way it should be.

I’m really glad you’re enjoying the experience and we’re lucky to have you on our side, Mr. Olson.
