@Robert Welcome to Chicago! It is a great city. Shoot me a note and perhaps we can grab a coffee in the coming weeks at which point I can fill you in on the Chicago new media/tech scene. eric [at] ericjohnolson [dot] com

@Alex Sure. I figure a lot of people just realized the safe road wasn't so safe and they might figure that trying a startup is something they want to do.

Hi Eric.

My name is Robert, and I am a newly transplanted resident to the city of Chicago. I moved from Cambridge (your neck of the woods) where I was involved in the social media/tech scene there. I was hoping you might have some input about the new media scene here in Chicago, and how one goes about getting involved... any help? Feel free to check out my site: www.glassbooth.org

Thanks.

Do you expect the start-up environment to be affected by the downfall of Wall Street in terms of the volume of new businesses? Meaning, with the loads of professionals leaving the banks, I'm hoping to see some leave their DCF models for more creative ventures, especially the ones with a niche financial expertise.
