I’m Back

Reading time: 3 – 4 minutes

So, my hiatus lasted just over a couple of months – not long at all – but it gave me the time I needed to re-focus and to set some goals for myself.  One thing I realized was that I really missed writing on this site.  At my core I have always been a writer and this site was a great outlet for me.  I originally started the site as a way to chronicle my own thoughts and perhaps receive some feedback from others who stumbled by my little corner of the web.

Over the years I became more and more stuck on my stats, how to increase readership, etc. etc.  That made this blog more like work and less like an outlet for me.  That is going to change this time around.  Here is what I will and won’t do with this site from here on in:

I will:

  • Write about things that interest me: This means my posts will generally revolve around venture capital, entrepreneurship, technology, science, software/web, model rockets, music and personal updates (on my band and other side projects) but will venture outside of those realms from time to time.
  • Write about the subjects I choose at length: I tend to write longer posts as most of you know (still, they never usually exceed five minutes of total reading time).  If something can fit into a nice short post I will do it but if I feel like it needs more words I will use more words.  I don’t want to be forced to fit my thoughts into little sound bites even though it looks like that it what needs to be done to gain a large following.
  • Actively engage with commenters: When someone does have something to share with me I will engage them.  That is how we learn and one of the benefits of blogging.

I won’t:

  • Be worried about infrequent posting: If you subscribe to the feed or via email you will simply get my posts when I post them and you won’t have to be disappointed if you check the site and I haven’t written anything new.
  • Look at my stats: I hope people read my posts and interact with me but I won’t bother looking at my numbers.  I want to write what I want to write and I don’t want stats to dictate what I publish.  If I did want to worry about stats I would be a professional publisher.

If you are OK with my statements above then, by all means, continue to read on and be an active participant in my humble blog.  I can assure you that I appreciate your support and that you help me grow as much I hope I help you.

Onward!

P.S. I should also mention that I reserve the right to change my mind at any time about anything I write.  We live in a rapidly changing world and, with new information coming in all the time, one has to consistently revise his or her thoughts.  Those that stick with their preconceived notions no matter what new information is available will be forever stuck in a certain era of time.  That’s not where I want to be.

  2. Eric: Looking forward to hearing more about the time away to refocus. I’m sure you’ve got some great ideas brewing.
